With their Helicopter Pod Series, RIEGL provides a user-friendly turnkey airborne laser scanning solution to be mounted on standard hard points and typical camera mounts of manned helicopters. The RIEGL Helicopter Pod series provides a user-friendly, fully integrated overall system for airborne laser scanning that can be easily and quickly mounted on standard mounting fixtures and typical camera mounts of manned helicopters. This enables the acquisition of highly accurate, meaningful data of entire areas and terrain sections, which are used as basic data in disaster management and civil defense.
The VP-1 is available in two versions; with the RIEGL VUX-1LR22 or the RIEGL VUX-1UAV22 sensor integrated and with the RIEGL VUX-240 LiDAR sensor integrated.
The scanner, the IMU/GNSS unit, the control unit, and a digital camera are fully integrated into the small and lightweight RIEGL VP-1 Pod.
The system offers a field of view of up to 360° and works in eye safe Laser Class 1. With the RIEGL VUX-1LR22 integrated, it provides up to 1.5 million measurements/sec at an accuracy of 15 mm. With the RIEGL VUX-1UAV22 up to 1.2 million measurements/sec at an accuracy of 10 mm are delivered.
The new aerodynamically optimized VPX-1 Helicopter Pod is available with a RIEGL VUX-240 laser scanner and up to three high-resolution digital cameras as well as an IMU/GNSS unit fully integrated. The effective laser pulse repetition rate of 1.5 million measurements per second and the optimally adjusted alignment of the cameras (forward/nadir/backward) enables the provision of highly accurate measurement and image data.
