Digital radio traces are playing an increasingly important role in the preventive fight against crime and in the investigation of criminal acts. In the area of mobile communications, call data queries via the respective network operators are standard today. With this centralized type of communication, the question arises as to how the available data volume can be made plausible and reduced for analysis. In WiFi communications, communication points are both centralized and decentralized, as well as variable in time and location. There is no central location from which investigative agencies can retrieve data. How is data collected and what are the application scenarios for such an environment?
